Produced by Henschke, this wine pays tribute to fourth-generation winemaker Cyril Henschke and reflects the estate’s long-standing commitment to elegance, structure, and longevity.
Sourced from selected vineyards in Eden Valley, the wine was crafted during a formative era for fine Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. The elevated sites and cooler conditions of Eden Valley contributed freshness, aromatic complexity, and finely structured tannins, distinguishing the wine from richer South Australian styles of the period.
The 1981 vintage produced wines of classical restraint and balance rather than sheer power, making long-term cellaring essential. After more than four decades in bottle, well-preserved examples now offer an extraordinary tertiary profile and a rare glimpse into mature Australian Cabernet from a bygone era.
