The 2025 Sami-Odi release has arrived, unveiling three compelling Syrah expressions that further cement the estate’s reputation as one of Australia’s most uncompromising and distinctive producers.
Crafted with minimal intervention, whole-bunch fermentation, and meticulous barrel selection, these wines speak not of volume or gloss, but of energy, structure, and site transparency.
2024 Sami-Odi Hoffmann Dallwitz Syrah

Drawn from the two oldest plots within the Hoffmann family’s sun-soaked Eben-Ezer vineyards, this cuvée represents the most purist and prized casks of the 2024 vintage.
-
Vines planted in 1927 (own roots) and between 1888–1912
-
Yields: 27–41 hl/ha
-
Bottled without filtration, fining, or sparging
-
Gravity transfers only prior to bottling
-
4,975 bottles produced
This is a wine of depth and architectural structure. Old-vine concentration meets lifted aromatics and firm, detailed tannins. It is built to evolve.
2024 Sami-Odi ‘Our Hill’ Syrah

The fifth fruiting season from the estate’s own rolling hillsides on the southern edge of Angaston (Eden Valley).
Composed primarily from prized Eastern-facing slope casks, with a delicate inclusion from the estate’s rockiest, staked-vine parcel.
-
Yields: 25–44 hl/ha
-
1,896 bottles produced
A more tensile, mineral-driven expression. The 2024 Our Hill balances precision and vibrancy, showcasing clarity of fruit, structural lift, and a refined, linear finish.
Sami-Odi ‘Our Hill’ #1 (Syrah) — Unvintaged Assemblage

Marking the inaugural unvintaged assemblage from the estate’s home hillsides, this release blends selected casks across three vintages:
-
2025 (23%)
-
2024 (56%)
-
2023 (21%)
Only the most delicate and gentle barrels were chosen.
-
2,438 bottles produced
Lithe, trim, and supple in character, this cuvée is designed for enjoyment in its youth. It offers elegance over power, energy over weight — a finely tuned interpretation of site and barrel selection.
Philosophy in Practice
Across all three wines, the approach remains consistent:
-
Whole-bunch fermentation
-
Wild yeast
-
No filtration or fining
-
Gravity handling
-
Low yields
-
Site-driven expression
Rather than chasing the stereotypical density often associated with Barossa Syrah, Sami-Odi pursues balance, tension, and longevity. These are wines defined by structure and nuance, rewarding both early appreciation and patient cellaring.

The 2025 release is limited and highly allocated. Each wine offers a distinct lens into vintage, vineyard, and philosophy.
For collectors, enthusiasts, and those seeking thoughtful, site-expressive Australian Syrah, this release stands as one of the most compelling of the year.
