Roagna stands as a pillar of tradition and innovation in Piedmont, Italy—crafting wines of exceptional character and provenance from historic vineyards such as Pajé in Barbaresco and Pira in Barolo.
Pajé: The Heart of Barbaresco
Owned by the Roagna family since 1953, Pajé is a historic vineyard nestled in the heart of Barbaresco. Its gentle, amphitheatre-like slope enjoys optimal sun exposure and benefits from the moderating influence of the Tanaro River valley. The calcareous marl soil, especially rich in active limestone, contributes to the site’s distinct minerality and finesse. With vines averaging over 50 years old—planted exclusively to Nebbiolo in the upper section—Pajé yields wines of depth, energy, and aromatic purity.
Pira: Barolo's Central Jewel
Located in Castiglione Falletto, Pira is a storied vineyard once connected to the noble Falletti family estate. Acquired by Roagna in 1989, it lies on the southeastern slope of the Rocche di Castiglione, featuring a complex mosaic of limestone, marl, and sand. With roots tracing back to 1937 and an ongoing commitment to massal selection and biodiversity, Pira is a living laboratory of old vines, varied microclimates, and geological richness. This combination fosters Nebbiolo expressions of structure, longevity, and layered intensity.
